India's Hydrocarbon Outlook – 2022-2023

29 DGH: 3 DECADES OF UNLOCKING INDIA'S HYDROCARBON POTENTIAL and Andaman Offshore up to EEZ. Appx. 50,320 LKM seismic data has already been acquired under EEZ survey till 28th February 2023. Refer Chapter - 3 for more details 9. Re-assessment of Hydrocarbon Resources, 2017 (September 2015- November 2017) A Multi Organisation Team comprising of representatives of ONGC, OIL and DGH carried out estimation of hydrocarbon resource potential in the country. The prognosticated conventional hydrocarbon resources in 26 sedimentary basins of the country are re-assessed to the order of 41.87 billion tonnes of oil and oil equivalent of gas (O+OEG), which is about 49% increase as compared to earlier estimates of 28.08 billion tonnes of O+OEG The amount of data increased significantly since then on account of increased E&P activities as well as government sponsored programmes. The seismic data has been re-processed and new discoveries have been made in recent times. However, considering thepaceof dataacquisition and the advancement in assessment tools and technologies, it is envisaged to undertake the Hydrocarbon Resource Assessment Study (HRAS). This will act as a guiding tool for re- aligning the exploration strategy for Indian sedimentary basins helping companies align their investment interest.
